I am so ready for this winter to be over. Really. It's raining again today after a beautiful, warmer-ish week. My brain was starting to get into spring mode, so the rain today is very unwelcome. I suppose it is only the end of January. I should lower my expectations. Two more months of rain and cold, and THEN it will be spring. I get a bit of the winter time blues, though, so it makes the cold and grey seem all the more depressing. I really dislike the cold to begin with and with little ones it makes it all the more difficult to get time outdoors. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like such a downer...
We spent the morning at the Arboretum. We had such a nice time. The winter garden is incredible right now. SO many plants and trees blooming and filling the air with the smell of natural sweetness (plants have to work alot harder in the winter to attract pollinators, so winter blooming plants often have a much stronger scent).
Our friends the Hawkins lent us this little balance bike for Jasper and he's been riding it everyday for the past week. He LOVES it and is getting pretty good at it too. Fun times ahead!

One of my friends here just told me about those balance bikes and how great they are. They are pretty pricey though, so it's nice you got to borrow one!
Ooo - I feel smarter by reading your blog. I am totally going to rattle off that tidbit about winter plants to someone in a conversation this week, then step back, inhale, and appreciate the beauty of this world (rain and all)!

Oh Sara, I'm ready for the Winter to be over too. I love that little balancing bike! Jasper looks so cute on it with his little yellow raincoat. You guys are always doing the funnest little adventures as a family.

I'm SO behind -- I haven't read blogs for 3 months!
So I'm only seeing this in early April. And we're STILL having winter -- real, cold, snowy winter -- here in Utah! I thought it was an April Fools joke when it snowed on 4/1...but last night it snowed even more.
I'm so spring deprived. In CA I'd be having spring for at least 6 weeks by now. I NEED FLOWERS AND GREENERY!
