Fun weekend

Thanks Hawkins and Durhams for an awesome weekend. We had such a great time with y'all.

What is Gideon doing?

I am having a really hard time keeping up with blogging lately. I need to devote an entire to post to what Gideon has been up to and the milestones he's hit.

So, on April 2nd Gideon rolled over for the first time. He was four months old at the time and rolled a whole bunch for a couple of days. Then he stopped for a few weeks and picked it up again. He's not a prolific roller though. His preferred method of getting what and where he wants is scooching and reaching.

At 5 months 2.5 weeks, we started solid food. He wanted some real food so badly that waiting any longer was serious torture for this little guy. We've already tried him on quite a bit - carrots, applesauce, sweet potatoes, peas, bananas, cheerios, black beans, a few nibbles of bread crust, and quinoa. He's a great eater and loves everything we put in his mouth.

While I was in Ohio visiting my sister Meta and her family in July, Gideon mastered sitting up. He was 6+ months old. He had been working on it for a while but would still fall over on his face after a minute or so. Now he sits and sits and plays with a toy or watches Jasper and stays happy for a long time! I love it!

Please take note of the wonderful chub he has put on. Rob and I make good, healthy, chubby babies. So kissable and squeezable!

Gideon is a very verbal baby. He loves to compete with Jasper for loudest screams and yells. He just loves to make noise. He tries to sing back to me when I'm singing him a song and he mimics all kinds of noises we make. His latest thing is trying to crawl. He's been getting into crawling position this past week and trying to move, which usually ends up with him pushing himself backwards.

Gideon is 7 months and 10 days today. It's gone by way too fast. Makes me sad, actually. I went to a friend's house last night who had a baby 3 weeks ago. I got to hold her little, tiny, newborn. I couldn't believe how little he was. Gideon is already so big! Gideon is a really happy, fun baby. He loves to laugh and studies Jasper all the time. This past month, Jasper has finally started to really interact with Gideon which is so fun. Yesterday they spent the morning playing together. I kept peeking at them in their bedroom as Jasper told Gideon about his excavator and his tools and showed Gideon how to hammer. It was soooo cute!
