The zoo

Sometimes when we go to the zoo, we don't really see many animals. My boys love this one area called "my backyard". If we walk past it and they realize it, they always want to go in and play. There are no animals. It's full of physical challenges- climbing, sliding, crawling, and wandering around in this neat creek area. When we went last week, we were lucky enough to happen upon a bubble station. My boys loved that too. So after three hours, we only saw the gorillas but had had tons of fun. Our zoo is so awesome and I love that we can walk there anytime :)

Cloud Dough

This afternoon, we made cloud dough. Thank you, Taylor Johnson (my friend who teaches the monkey school that Gid and I go to once a week) for all the fabulous activities you plan for the kiddos! I just had to try this one again with my boys.

5 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil. It was so easy and my boys played with it for a straight hour and a half. To be perfectly honest, though, it was all over the floor when they were done. Relatively easy to clean up, though. Just vacuumed it right up:

When my boys play with playdough, they always want to add their matchbox cars to the mix. This was no exception. They made a racetrack, a parking lot, a mountain for the cars to drive up, a ramp, a contruction zone, etc:

Corvallis

My boys and I took the train down to Corvallis. The train ride was really fun! My boys did terrific:

We've been having a blast so far. Yesterday, we met up with a couple of friends at Jackson-Frazier Wetland and did a mini nature class. Had a great time. Got to catch up with Kara Becera. She is such a fun, cool, down-to-earth mama. Today, we did a few errands and took Pepper out for a nice, long walk from the Fairgrounds out to Bald Hill. My boys had such a good time riding their bikes. It felt good to let my boys out of my sight and know they were okay and safe and not going to get run over or kidnapped.

Jasper and Gid = best buds

My boys sure love one another. They are such a funny pair. Here are some of our springtime comings and goings:

Climbing trees

Biking the neighborhood, specifically the rose garden near the zoo

hanging out at the ballard library

and I can't resist sneaking in a snapping a photo of my boys sleeping every once in a while. They are always snuggled up and breathing into one anothers' faces :)

Trail mix buffet

I've been working on getting ready for a little someone's birthday. I found an idea on Pinterest for a "trail mix bar", which I love. I'm really excited with the way my own rendition is coming together. I'm just hoping I can get it all ready in time :)

Three coats of spray paint on the aluminum cans, two coats os spray paint on the granola boxes + two coats of acrylic paint (the spray paint wasn't cutting it on the boxes). I looked all over JoAnn's for stickers or paper with little earths on them, but could find anything! Seriously, JoAnn's! It's two weeks away from earth day! Then I found some scrapbooking paper with the little trees and I actually like the way they turned out very much :)
