January 2013

Gosh- January was a big month around the Egbert household! So much has been going on and I feel like a very delinquent blogger for writing so infrequently. I'd feel better about not blogging if I was good a keeping a journal, but I'm not good at that either!

Christmas was wonderful. Had a lovely, quiet, relaxing time as a family. Spent the entire day opening presents slowly. The boys and Rob played and played and played. I mostly lounged around with Sage. So nice to just hold her on my chest and not have to put her down all day.

Spent the evening of Christmas packing Rob and the boys up for their road trip to Utah. Rob's brother, Dave, was getting married to Stephanie Allen bright and early on the 27th. Rob, Jasper, and Gid left around 4 am on the 26th. I was super duper nervous about them driving because there had been this huge storm on Snoqualmie pass on Christmas day and the roads were terrible. They made it safe, though! They had a terrific time with Rob's family, at the wedding, seeing friends, sledding at Larry and Glenda's, going to a BYU basketball game, visiting the Dino museum with cousins Laura and Frances, and a bazillion other adventures (I should let Rob write about it...).

Sage and I took the train down to Oregon on the 28th to visit my parents. What a wonderful time we had! It was so fun to have that special trip with newborn baby Sage. She is such a sweet little baby. So happy and content with being a part of this world. It was so nice to be with my mom and dad. I relaxed so much during the week- Sage and I slept in until 10:30 or 11 every morning!! I'd stumble down the stairs every morning in a complete daze and in shock that I'd slept in so late. My mom and I had fun looking at old family photos, playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, running errands, ooing and awing over Sage, and just chatting. I went out to dinner with my parents and we chatted- uninterrupted! I LOVE my boys with all my heart, but it was really nice to have a dinner conversation with my parents and not have to be telling my boys to eat their food and sit up in their chairs :) My parents were so gracious to let me stay with them for the week. I would have been very lonely up in Seattle all by myself.

Rob and the boys met up with us in Corvallis on the 1st of January. Rob and I went to Les Miserables that night. It was soooo good! Jasper and Gid spent the next day playing and playing at Tutu and Gumpas. Their yard is magical playland with the rings, sandbox, pond, greenhouse, etc. My boys just love it there. We then headed back to Seattle as Rob had to get back to work.

Rob's birthday was on the 5th. Celebrated with breakfast in bed, family trip to the zoo, and carrot cake and presents.

Gideon's best friend is Jonathan. He loves Jonathan so much and talks about him all the time. Our families get along super well too. Don't know what we are going to do when we move away... :( When Jonathan and Gid have a playdate, this is what the two of them do:

Okay, so living in Seattle can be a little tough in the winter with the gray skies for days upon end. But then we get these really nice spells in the middle of the winter with 50 degree weather and blue skies and it makes it all worth it.

We've had some nice time playing outside, hiking, beaching, etc. even with newborn baby Sage. I've taken all three kids on two hikes in the past few weeks. One was at the arboretum and the other at Cougar Mountain.

Sage is such an adorable, easy little baby. I just love her to pieces. She's been smiling so much! It's so much fun to connect with this little baby. Jasper and Gideon are old enough to keep themselves busy with legos, puzzles, coloring, etc. so I get some really nice one-on-one time with little baby Sage :)

I can't believe how big these two boys are getting! They have both had growth spurts in the past two months- eating four bowls of cereal in the morning, four pieces of pizza at dinner :)
