Latest Project- Applique

I'm throwing a baby shower next weekend and instead of doing games, we are going to applique onesies. I did a run though tonight. It was SOOOO easy. This is even easier that sewing ties on onesies. There is absolutely no sewing involved, just a little ironing and cutting out the shape. Fun, fun, and really cute. Here's a picture of the one I made:

Here are the steps:
1. Pick out cute fabric or use scraps from previous sewing project
2. Figure out what you want to applique- a puppy, dinosaur, guitar, bird, anything.
3. Find a picture or template online of that thing, print it out to be about the right size ( I looked up "stencils" and found lots of simple black and white graphics
4. Buy some t-shirts or onesies. Pre-wash them.
5. Buy some Pellon ultra hold adhesive stuff.
6. Iron it onto the back side of fabric
7. Using a pin, poke little holes through the template on to the paper-backed adhesive side of fabric (sort of like tracing...)
8. Cut out the shape following the holes you poked.
9. Iron the applique onto shirt. Done!!

What a great idea, Sara! I can't wait to try this. It's so smart because it's much cheaper than buying the cool onsies and more fun doing it yourself. I love the idea of doing this at a baby shower. You are so creative!
