Safari Week

I really want to finish up blogging about Africa so I'm going to whiz through Safari week. After Tanga, we took a bus from the coast to Arusha, the launching pad for most Tanzanian safaris. We met up with Rob's Aunt Ann and her friend Guy at Meru House Inn, a hostel type place, which was perfect for us but maybe not quite up to par for our companions. We left on Monday, September 10th, with Sunny Safaris, for the Serengeti. We spent most of Monday driving to the Serengeti. Spent Tuesday and Wednesday morning in the Serengeti and stayed at the Serena Lodge (an amazing place to stay). We saw elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, warthog, zebra, giraffe, African buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, impala, gazelle, topi, hyena, and tons of birds. We then left for Ngorongoro Crater and spent Thursday exploring the crater, which was absolutely fabulous. This is the largest in tacked caldera in the world and full of wildlife. Spent Friday at Lake Manyara where we saw tons of elephants up close which made us all very happy. Our guide and driver's name was Bryson from Sunny Safaris. He was really great. He knew a great deal about the animals and parks, and answered all our questions. Highly recommended (if anyone reading this decides to go to Tanzania...)
