Blogging is my means of journaling and documenting my mothering years. I hope to make my posts and pictures into some kind of "family book" at some point. I don't have time to pick up the pen and write regularly in a journal right not (I WILL someday, though, I hope... I really like writing with a pencil or pen).
Anyway, I've been slacking lately. I get behind and then I just get too darn overwhelmed. I am going to set some time aside to catch up, so get ready for some serious blogging.
Many of my friends and family members who were once really into blogging, don't so much anymore. Maybe it's not as cool as it used to be? Or people want their lives to be more private (totally understandable). Or maybe they are too busy (also, totally understandable). I think I'm not as motivated to keep up on blogging as I used to be. Blogging is my last resort journal keeping at this point, though, so when I don't blog, I don't document my family's life at all. Which is so sad to me! This mothering business is the best job and the toughest job I've ever had and I want to remember it when I'm 90. So I am making an early new year's resolution to continue and be more regular about it. Now that I've blogged it, I better do it!

Hooray! I can't wait! I've got some catching up to do too. And I blame facebook on the lack of blogging going on...almost all my friends get on facebook all the time and hardly any of them blog anymore, but a blog is forever. I'm excited for your posts :-)!
Yay, Sara! I feel like because life has gotten so busy I rarely even get to see you as much as I'd love to so it is always a treat to see what's going on with you and yours on your blog. I used to be an AVID journalist - I have 15 complete books from age 8 until pretty much the year Sawyer was born. After that, I started blogging and while I don't always write the super personal stuff, I do write the goings on and feelings of now and it's great to be able to add pictures to the story. So keep it up! You will one day look back and treasure these blog posts! I put the images from each year into a family album which I do through mypublisher.com I also just found out that blurb.com (a Seattle based company!) will "slurp" your blog pics and posts and put them all in chronological order into a book! I am working on a book of my first 2 years of the blog and hope to slowly catch up. I figure the blog will be on the web for a long time but it is nice to have something in book form for the kids to look back on etc. My kids LOVE looking at our family albums, their baby books, etc. It's so fun for me, too.
I agree and do it for the same reason. It's easier because my family still blogs and it's encouraging when people comment but it really is all about documenting our families history.
A friend wrote on her blog recently that a friend of hers just had a house fire and lost all of their pictures. Their blog is the only thing they have from their past years. That gave me extra motivation to keep up our blog.
Good for you, Sara! I look forward to seeing more posts :)
I love your blog, Sar! It helps me keep up with you (and your kiddos) when you are so far away from us.
Do you know your holiday schedule? I hope to see you in Corvallis!
