Gideon is going to be a month old on Saturday! Rob and I think he's gotta be at least 10 lbs now. It's so interesting to see how different he is, already, from his older brother. He doesn't really like being swaddled (Jasper lived in constant swaddle for the first 6 months), he LOVES tummy time (Jasper hated being on his tummy), he likes to sleep more than eat (opposite again), and he doesn't like the car seat (Jasper was happy as a clam buckled in). Gideon is a really sweet little guy. He loves all the commotion and sounds of Jasper running around. He's having more and more alert time each day and I can see his little mind taking everything around him in. He has a definite fussy time like clockwork every evening. Our friends the Parkers and Hadleys came over for games this weekend and Gideon cried for about an hour while we were trying to play. We were both so exhausted from trying to be good hosts and comfort our little Gid at the same time that we decided to hold off on game nights for a few months. He wants to be attached to either Rob or I pretty much all day long, which is perfectly normal for a newborn and just fine with us. We both feel like we are re-learning the whole newborn thing all over since Gideon is such a different baby!! Who would have thought...
Anyway, he's a couple of pictures from last week (he broke out with baby acne the past few days, so I'm glad I snapped these ones before that happened):
(Gideon has Grandpa Bob's cleft in his chin!)
Here's the really, really sad news for me: Since having Gideon, I've developed an allergy to EGGS!!! Can you believe it! What horrible luck. I've had 5 or 6 reactions and the conclusion is eggs. What Egbert is allergic to eggs? It seems wickedly ironic. I have been craving baked cookies and cakes and brownies like crazy, so tonight a tried out an eggless cookie recipe. They turned out delicious, so the rest of my life won't be too bad after all.

Oh, I just loved these pictures! Gid's starting to look less like a newborn and more like a baby (with distinguished features!). He's so handsome Sara. And how fun to have Grandpa Bob's chin (I think Mom has that chin a little bit too).
Sorry to hear about him being fussy in the late afternoon/evenings. Those were hard times for my boys too. And for some reason they seemed to be the fussiest around 4-6 weeks it seemed.
Good luck and be sure to take naps when your boys do!
Gideon is so cute! Isn't amazing how different 2 children from the same parents and of the same sex can be?! Ella and Addie even look so different :-). That is so strange about your egg allergy too! Maybe it won't last forever. If I see any good eggless recipes I'll pass them on your way.
both of your boys are adorable. How do you know you are allergic to eggs? I'm interested...
Um, weird. At first I thought that you were meant you were allergic to eggs alone like scrambled or sunny side up or hard boiled or something like that. But to be allergic to baked goods? That sounds horrific. I'm glad that you found a recipe. Good luck with everything. I feel tired just reading your blog. Jackson is finally sleeping through the night, no pacifier reboots or needing to be rocked back to sleep. Which makes me wonder, how ever did I manage getting up two or three times in the middle of the night to feed him? How will I do it again?
cute kiddo(s)! Hang in there!
what a cute family, I can't wait to meet your boys. I am SO sorry for you about the eggs. That happened to Lex's brother as well (only not after giving birth :) ) good luck adjusting, I'll pass on any eggless recipes I hear about!
No more game nights for a few MONTHS!? I don't remember agreeing to that...
I remember feeling the same way after Tyler (our second) was born. I had a much harder time adjusting to two and three, etc... Though, I'm not saying the others were easy either just not as exhausting.
No eggs...so sad. Hopefully you and Gideon will out grow that soon.
