For my 25th birthday, Rob took me backpacking in Washington's North Cascades. We had a great time. We left on Friday morning, backpacked in at Colonial Creek campground. We camped at Neve camp on the Thunder creek trail. We set up our camp and then hiked around for a couple of hours before it got dark. We cooked our dinner over a fire we built together. We ate lots of yummy smores too. The serentiy of the campfire and the stary sky was stiffled when Sara saw a rodent running around her feet eating up her crumbs. We soon retreated to out tent and fell right to sleep .
In the morning, we pumped water from a fresh mountain stream that was right next to our camp and then hiked up 4th of July pass and got to the snow line. It was a pretty grueling hike up, but really, really worth it.
We saw lots of things blooming- trillium, paintbrush, violets, frittilaria. We saw enormous douglas fir and cedar trees. It was really great for Rob and I to have some quality time with each other.
