End of summer fun

These photos are from back in September, but I wanted to put them up anyway. So, my brother Marcus and his wife Becca and there son Jack came out to Seattle for a few weeks while my brother had a rotation in Tacoma. We were also watching my parents dog, Pepper, for about a month while they were in Ukraine. We took them to see the Ballard locks and the gardens that are also there. It was a beautiful fall day, the weather was great, and we saw sooo many Salmon jumping. It was so fun to have them visit. Wish we had family in Seattle all the time... Becca is pregnant too (which you can't tell) and it was nice to have a sister to talk with about the whole experience.

Guess what?!

Well, we haven't been so good at this blogging business. I think it's because I was so sick and tired for the first four months of being pregnant, that I just didn't want to do it. I feel so much better now! I love being pregnant! So, this picture is different than the previous post's picture, if you read carefully. It was incredible to see our baby inside my womb, just snuggled in there, all curled up. Actually it was moving around quite a bit, once the ultrasound got going, which made getting a good shot of the face difficult. We just love this little baby so much already. We are so excited for it to come. So, Rob can feel it kicking from the outside now and he now feels more connected and in the loop as to what is going on inside of me. I felt the baby kick the very first time around 17 weeks, which is pretty early. My mom could always feel us kids kick early too, so it must be in my genes. Well, this little boy is going to be quite an active kid because he kicks all the time now! I don't know what Rob and I are going to do with an off the wall kid. We'll probably end up like those parents who have their kids on leashes, which I've always thought was wrong. Soon, that'll be us.... with five leash bound kids. Oh dear. Anyway, I'm so excited to publish another post, that I'm going to do that now.

Mt. Dickerman

Our most recent adventure was to tackle Mt. Dickerson in Washington state. It was pretty tough, but well worth it! The first two miles are all up gruelling mountain side and rises at a pretty fast rate. But once you pass over this amazing water fall, things start to become easier. There is a meadow type section that runs for about 1/2 to 1 mile. This is when the snow came, and the meadow was still pretty much all undersnow when we went about two weeks ago. I hear it is full of berries and wildflowers in August (we are totally going back because I really want to see it in bloom) and a great place to have a huckleberry snack. Then comes the final scramble to the top. It's not much of a "scramble", but it does get tough again. We were traveling the last mile and a half on a snow field and through patchy snow, so this was a true challenge. You take one step up and another half a step back in melting snow. The top was worth every drop of sweat! We could see all the way up to Mt. Baker and all the way down to Mt. Rainier, plus tons of snowy peaks in between. It was beautiful. We had a lot of fun too, identifing plants and flowers along the way.
